AC repair is always important, especially in the summer. Nobody wants to think about their air conditioner dying on them during the hottest months of the year, yet sadly that is when it's the most likely to happen. Many people run their air conditioners almost nonstop during the summer, often with little regard for the maintenance that is needed in order to keep everything running smoothly.
As with most complicated appliances, there are several things that can go wrong with an air conditioner that hasn’t been well maintained. A good AC repair company can fix just about any problem, but there are some things that homeowners can do before a technician needs to get involved.
Keep Condenser Coils Clean and Free of Debris
The condenser of a central air conditioning system can get clogged with dirt, pollen and debris. This can cause problems if the situation goes unchecked, but brushing or vacuuming the dirt from the coils and washing them down with water can greatly improve an air conditioner's efficiency.
Replace the Air Filters
Ideally, air filters should be changed every four to six weeks to ensure the optimal performance of the system. Depending on how often the air conditioner is used, some homeowners may need to change them more often, while others can go longer than a month without needing new filters. Regardless, filters should still be checked frequently. Disposable air filters can be thrown away and replaced with new ones, and permanent filters can be simply sprayed down with a garden hose.
Schedule a Seasonal Maintenance Check
Most problems with air conditioners can be avoided altogether if homeowners schedule seasonal tune-up maintenance. This is far less costly than most AC repair jobs, since technicians can identify minor problems and fix them before they become more costly breakdowns.
Air conditioning is practically a necessity in much of the country, and many people wouldn't know what to do without it. Many of the problems that can plague air conditioners can be fixed with proper maintenance and diligence, but when all else fails, never be afraid to contact a professional AC repair technician near you.

Making sure that the filters are replaced seems like something that is very important. For those who are home owners it seems almost essential that that kind of training is shared from the service company to the consumer. I live in an apartment so I don't really know the details. Thank you for sharing though. http://www.timmermanshvac.com/
ReplyDeleteSince we breathe in the air circulated by the air conditioners in our rooms, it becomes highly essential to properly clean the AC duct in order to breathe in an air that is free from disease causing molds and microorganisms.
